Spotted: <em>Pretty Little Liars'</em> Janel Parrish in Courtney Allegra

16-year-old designer outfits the stars

Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish showed up at Wango Tango 2013 wearing a very special (and gorgeous) miniskirt. Why so special? It was created by 16-year-old fashion designer Courtney Allegra.

What were you doing when you turned 16? If you're like us, you were worrying about boys and working a summer job at the public swimming pool.

Not San Diego native Courtney Allegra: The 16-year-old is blazing a trail as one of the youngest fashion designers on the scene. She's appeared on NBC's Today — alongside her fashion idol, Rachel Roy — and now Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish is wearing her designs!

Parrish walked the red carpet at KIIS FM's Wango Tango 2013 in a black Allegra skirt, complete with an eye-catching yellow stripe.

That's not all: Allegra just debuted her fall/winter 2013 collection, and, basically, we want everything.

Our faves? We're digging the Arlene long-sleeve knit dress with snake-leather detail and the pink leather pencil skirt with back full-length zipper.

"I've been designing since I was a little girl. I love it," Allegra told SheKnows of how she got her start in fashion.

"I started sketching my ideas first, but it was just for fun, just for me. My mom told me I should start manufacturing my own stuff. I entered my designs into a fashion show. After that, I made my website and that was it. I decided it would be better if I could share my stuff with people!"

Not bad for a girl who hasn't even graduated high school yet!

We'll definitely be watching as she grows as a designer. Maybe she'll even show up on the red carpet during awards season in the near future.

Something tells us that's not far off.

Friday's Fashion Fails: Debra Messing and Jemima Kirke

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Debra Messing and Jemima Kirke's fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Debra Messing attended the Joyful Heart Foundation Gala in NYC looking like a hot mess in this baggy jumpsuit. Pantsuits are a great trend for summer and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, but poor Debra forgot that they absolutely always must be tailored properly.

The billowing bottom half of her navy ensemble is way too big and is adding unnecessary bulk to her frame. Although this outfit has a belt, it's so loosely tied that it's not really showing off her waist or giving her any shape. Not only are the pants way too big, but they're also far too long. You can't even see if the Smash star is wearing shoes underneath. She may have gone barefoot for all we know!

The final verdict? This navy number is just so unflattering. When trying the jumpsuit trend, choose one with a tapered leg and a narrow, defined waist for the best results. Props for that sexy plunging neckline, though!

Girls star Jemima Kirke must have gotten mixed up and thought she was heading to film her hit HBO show instead of attending a red carpet charity event in NYC. We know she plays a boho hippie on the show, but there's no excuse for looking so sloppy on the carpet.

The printed maxi dress itself isn't awful, but just like Debra's getup, it's not properly fitted. And what the actress is really missing is some support up top! Unless you're small chested or wearing a super tight dress, it's not appropriate to go out without a bra. Undergarments are your friend, Jemima.

The final verdict? We like her red heels and think a matching red lip would have looked way better than the dark color she chose, which looks kind of gothic. Her hair also looks messy and unkempt. When you're going to a fancy event, try to look like you care a little, at least. It won't ruin your indie cred, promise!
